Thanks Jeff. The original the skin isn't blown out & I did it intentionally in my b&w process. Maybe I should back off a bit?

Artsy! I think it works overall.

Looks like something that would work on an album cover, though they don't do them anymore. If it were so used, I'm not sure the selective color thing would work there - in general I'm OK with that and think that they're a good weapon to have in your arsenal, but I'm also thinking here it would work just fine w/o it. Indeed, now that it's drawn my attention, when I look to see what is being reflected, it's too small and inconsistent to make out.

The blown out skin is OK by me, considering the artsy context. There is very little detail on his face and head though, perhaps leaving one with a 'wanting' feeling.

I wonder if it would be stronger yet with the neck of a guitar showing on the right?

That's my critique.

What i really like about this is the concept you were going after. the fact that we only see the instrument he's playing in the reflection of his sunglasses. i really like that. i also think that the face might be a tad over exposed but that's just subjective. different strokes for different folks. i think it's a very nice concept and execution overall.

I think I'm going to go back to the original and back off a tad on the skin. I love hearing what others see and don't see because once I look I'm locked in it and lose some vision.

I'll be shooting this band again and will try for the guitar neck. When he's up to the bongos he puts the guitar behind him, but now I'll be aware if he doesn't.

Again, thank you. I really apprecaite the feedback and am going to try some different things now!

I like the toned down edit, but now I think it needs the color reflection so we realize he is playing bongos

The re-edit is better. I am no much on selective color but i **** it here.

Always a hard call on the light, I like the left image as it feels warmer given the inference of mood with the head down. Great in B&W.
