It looks good on my monitor but I haven't calibrated lately either. Cool shot.

Armando, you post says it is OK to edit and post so here is the original and the second one is one F- stop more exposure with a +10 sharpening. My monitor is not calibrated either and that may make the difference. Jeff

Jeff I think you over done it slightly. Maybe some where in between the two. You have blown out some areas.

    Re: Blues (flowers macro)

    Armando,

    Hmm.

In many ways this is an excellent capture of what was provided. I like the dark, intense green. The purple's stand out OK against the green, being somewhat lighter. The buds have good definition and sharpness. I think the amount of blur you created is appropriate for the scene, and the diagonal angle certainly looks creative and much better than any other possible angle. The background blur is good and the stuff in the background is only moderately distinguishable. If there's anything that bothers me a tad, it's that purple leaf in the upper left corner area that just touches the top of the frame. But that is but a nit pick.

Some things to think about here perhaps are, could it be brighter? Not sure if that would be good or not. Or better yet, a beam of light shining on the flowers. And, maybe another element in the scene (not sure what).

Looks like that D800's working out for you, as things look good.. but the good news (for me) is that I've seen on on-line pix from the 800, and happily don't see it's dynamic range being substantially better than my 700 This means I don't need to torture myself into considering another major camera purchase anytime soon.

Composition...the flwoer going off frame bothers me. My eye always follows the lines and when they lead off frame, it only makes me want to know what is beyond.
I wish it had more dof.
I don't think it is too dark and the colors are great.

    Re: Blues (flowers macro)

Thanks GB, a bit of additional light would have made it brighter, it was very cloudy when I shot this. If I had a D700 I wouldn't buy the D800 either. My purchase is mainly a bad case on NAS

    Frog,
Thanks for your comment, yup the flower on top is too close to the edge and also bothers me, I need to remember to scan the edges of the viewfinder .
About DOF, giving it more DOF will show a repeat of what is already in focus, I like to include some out of focus area.
I can give it more DOF, it is a bit elaborated as this photo is a focus stack, if I remember right with 9 images or so, it would have to be shot from farther away and using a smaller aperture, then I have to be careful with the OOF areas as they start to look harsh as the aperture gets smaller.
I did pay attention on keeping the colors as close as possible to the original, glad you like them.
