    Bird Watching

I thought the bird looked a little jealous the people were playing in the water and he/she wasn't getting a turn. What do you think?

There is certainly something very innocent, almost comical about this shot, I wouldn't have noticed the people playing in the fountains if you hadn't mentioned it though and my suspicion is that the pigeon is actually concentrating on you a lot more than on them...!

Good catch and great composition, I too wouldn't have noticed the kids in the water, might have been nice if there was someone in the foreground playing or running through the jets of water? S

This looks like a shot that a custom channel mixer would do a lot better than the desaturate tool. Cool shot, if the kids end up being a distraction, a vertical or square comp may work

Hmmm.. Works in several respects: statement, comedy, composition. I think it would be a lot better if the foreground wasn't so white though and perhaps if more kids were playing in the water and that they were more evident (the ones in there are hard to see). I like the bird.. he seems to be thinking, also looking at you.

Thanks all. Here is the first version of the shot. Not sure if I was really pleased with it. The people are more prominent but the bird is not. Caleb this was Ilford B&W film.

Greg, I don't notice the people readily but i like the image. Good comp. I like the first version as well, and moreso I think than the tighter crop. In the first, the poles, fountains and people all create a vertical wonderland. then the horizontal slab in the fg sets it up well.

Greg, i too prefer the second one, I actually find that it shows more the comedy of the bird's jealousy than the tighter crop... and though the people may seem more prominent, the bird is very well set in the wider angle...
