    Re: Beautiful British Columbia

Man, I love mountains. The only thing I'd change would be to try and brighten up the trees at the bottom and bring out some detail, and maybe crop some of the sky off, since it doesn't contribute much to the picture.

I don't know how to put this, but...I'm kind of a big deal...People know me.

    Re: Beautiful British Columbia

Hmmm. I feel like I'm going to say something offensive like I did in a separate landscape critique.

What the other landscape photo had that this one doesn't quite have is good lighting. I realize you were just out for fun and photo ops and didn't want to wait another 4 hours for sunset so I understand.

I must admit, I've taken a LOT of landscape photos that were similar to this one in that it had multiple but obvious "layers" to it. For example this one has trees, then mountain, then sky. I've done some that were just separate layers of mountain. What I'm trying to tell you is that I appreciate your vision and the difficulty of translating that fvision from the 3D world onto the film plane so that it still retains that effect.

I think you were successful with that. Probably more so than some of my attempts. But I think some refinement would help this one. I already mentioned the lighting. The most important subject here is clearly the mountain. A crop where the photo is about 2/3rd mountain 0.5/3rd sky and 0.5/3rd tree might be more preferable for my tastes. If anything, the sky should fill less of the frame than the trees and mountain for sure.

You nailed everything else about it. Good sharp result.

    Re: Beautiful British Columbia

Thanks you guys! I appreciate both the responses. I do agree, especially in the bottom right corner, those dark trees could use a bit of brightening. Good words Trevor. I'll definatetly have to keep those in mind.

    Thanks,

    Jared
