    Apple

Having another go at still life today.
I know a leaf on the stalk would have been perfect but what can you do with supermarket pre-packed fruit lol.
And when I picked my children up from school, my 10 year old, Lisa, suggested next time I should splash the apple with a little water. (Little know-it-all lol). Bless her.
I'm still not sure what I am doing where this type of photography is concerned, so any words of wisdom would be much appreciated. TIA.

    Info:
    Canon EOS 350D
    50mm 1.8 MKII lens
    Manual Mode
    F5.6
    SS 1/80
    ISO 100

    Hi Allison

I like the composition and the depth of field with this shot but the lighting seems flat causing the subject to be bland. Did you do adjustments in PS?

    Regards,

    Phil

The colors look fine on my monitor. Looks true to life. I like the frameing as well....

Yum. I also like the green background. The DOF is good, but could be a tad deeper.

So that the table is clearer?
Would you be kind enough to elaborate GB please?

    Re: Apple

No the table fade out is good. But I think the actual apple is fading out too, on the back edge at the top? The trick here is to get the whole apple sharp but still fade the background.

    Re: Apple

I agree, increasing the DOF just a weeeeeeee bit would help. On my monitor the very front of the apple is a little soft (the spots are, I mean). Its making my eyes do the double-take why-can't-I-focus-correctly thing, if that makes any sense.

    Re: Apple

I often use a slightly curved piece of colour bristolboard to create a background with no edges. For some shots I also use dark velvet which does not reflect any light.

    Re: Apple

On my monitor the DOF is ok,,,then again my eyes aren't what they use to be..Great colour saturation, sharpness and compostion..

Alison,,I would have cropped just a bit off the top to reduce the unneccessary negative space..
