    Another Cactus and Sunset

Shot out in Tucson AZ. At first I was thinking the sky was too hazy, but not sure... What do you think?

    Re: Another Cactus and Sunset

I like this one GB. Love the sky. Two little things. I might have pulled back just a hair on this to add a tad more foreground and move the horizon up a bit. Also, I find my eyes keep drifting to the far right cactus. Both very minor things. Overall I really like this shot. Well done

    Re: Another Cactus and Sunset

Aaron - It might be a tad bit tight. It is actually a vertical format shot but the foreground was pitch black hence pretty much dead space.

I did try cropping that right side cactus, it reduces down to pretty much just the cactus.. Not sure about that - what do you think here? It might be better

    Re: Another Cactus and Sunset

Much better GB. No tendency to wander at all. Now that I look at it with the crop done, I take back my suggestion for stepping back a hair too. Very nice shot. Frame that one and stick it on the wall:thumbsup:

    GB,

I agree with Aaron on the crop - much better than the wider version. Nice shot.

the haze doesnt bother me. this is a very strong image. I love how the silhouette stands so strong against the sky. great shot.

Nice work, GB1. The cropped version is surely stronger. Great looking sky, and strong silhouettes. this is a very good image.
    Great work

    Re: Another Cactus and Sunset

Sweet shot GB! It's so blue for a sunset, I think that's what I really like most about this one. The sky is mesmerizing here and I think the filtering of light through the clouds is what really makes this shot. I could go either way with the crop suggestions, although the trimmed one does look a bit neater to me I suspect that's due to frame/ratio comfort. The cactus is a lovely foreground element. Well deserved for the sticky this week.

    Re: Another Cactus and Sunset

Thanks everyone - my first sticky! Looks like even the small things like a single item on the outer edge can really make a difference. I guess one of the tricks here might be to take the pic the best you can, and then cut, cut and cut (something I've heard about technical writing, too).

Very nice, though I'll be different and say I like the first better. Seems to have more balance or something.

Frog - I can see where you might say that, for the main cactus is so dominant. Here's the original btw

    GB,

Nicely done and congratulations on the Sticky. From a fellow San Diegian and traveler of the great southwest, you have captured the image so well. The desert is so forbidding yet dramatically fragile.

    Great job!

Thks CF - You going out there this summer? I'd like to do some camping and night photography, but sleeping in that heat's the problem.

    Re: Another Cactus and Sunset

GB1, once again, great looking shot. One note as i look at this more. I would suggest cropping everything as you have but keep the Cactus a bit further away from the left edge.
