    The Great Deluge

We had about six inches of snow melt in about three days...Needless to say, the river was running a little high.

    Re: The Great Deluge

I like the composition of this photo and the lighting of the hills in the background. My only comment is that the smoothnes of the water does not convey the power. This is one photo where I believe you could safely use higher speeds to capture the power and turbulence in the water.

By the way are the wisps of white by the bridge on the left water gushing up?

It's actually a dam, so there are gates on the left as well that are wide open...I took lots of higher speed pics, but this was my first real try blurring water, so that's why I posted this one. Here's one of the other ones...

What are you doing up at this time of the morning!!!

I think for this shot the power comes through in this shot buy showing the spray coming off the tumbling water. Wish I had something like this to photo around here.

Local contrast adjustments and some burning can make a big difference here

Wow what a difference. This really does show the power of the water.

Here's my new version...it's not quite as contrasty as CarbonTerry's, but hey, I can't do exactly the same...

Hello DownByFive, you said that the river after much snow is running a bit more high. If you wanted to emphasize that, you had to upload and the similar photo of the river of normal level. Then we could form the impression of overflow
