    American Girl

This was shot about a year ago, but I remember just how I lit it. I had two converted reflective heat lamps that I fitted with the brightest bulbs I could find. It is not often that I try to light a subject, and I am not very good at it. At any rate it took both lamps on one side to get the light up high enough to shoot. I shot this on a timer so that i could jump up and hold a reflector to the unlighted side. Please feel free to go off on the lighting, as well as anything else.

I think the sepia-ish is a bit much. Maybe straight black and white, or color? Also, is she wearing a hat? You can kinda see the ring, but it gets lost in the tones. Also, I feel like I'm looking up at her, rather than straight on.

She seems very happy to pose for you

I looked at this image yesterday and again today, and honestly I don't know what to say about it or how to critique it. I don't "get" it. As for lighting, I'm clueless about how to do studio lighting, but I see you still have shadows on the background, so I don't think your experiment was a complete success.

At this point I agree with you guys. I wanted to remove this post but I can't. I got the answer I was looking for in the gallery from P-J. I consider this thread a mistake really. I knew it was substandard and I posted it anyway. My bad.

Almo, IMO, None of the posts in Critique Forum are "sub-standard" Some people post their best, other post ones that have shooting/lighting/framing etc issues...We have to do that, in order to gain knowledge and better our technique...... Its how we humans learn

What I meant is that I know I can do better than this now. It is substandard for me. I shouldn't have posted an image this old for feedback.
