    Dear Todd,

I really like the lighting in this one. It has all the hallmarks of a good monochrome image. You also used your negative space very well here. I might like to see it uncropped though. Good job.

The light is very well used. I like how the shadows fall. My one comment for possible improvement would be to have more (how much I can't say) space on the right of the object to balance the photo. I like where you used the frame cut.

    Dear Todd,

Thanks. I almost prefer this one to the first. It has partly to do with the fact that there is more negatice space, and the gradation of colors is wider. That said, I like it better when subjects are off center. It would help this one, but you did a good job anyways.

Excellent - I like both of these photos

I prefer the close up because you can see more of the texture of the item and it gives more of an abstract quality to it.

I agree that more space is required on the right of the subject but only a centimeter or so.

On a completely different note - how do you keep your images so large? When I compress the images seem to come out very small on screen

    Todd,

You have an impressive ability with simplicity, lighting and composition.

I like the photo and the composition, but I think that it might be a little too close to the edge of the frame. But I also like how you 'pushed the boundaries' on that,.... most photogs would have simply used the rule of thirds. It takes experimentation to go new places.

Good luck with more of these shots. They're pretty unique.
