    4 big uns!!!

Passed these at 60 mph and had haul on the anchor, just so that I could take the picture

I really like the way the colors and contrast are so rich on this one. It's a nice effect. Did you tweek it in Photoshop or did you use some kind of special filter? It almost looks like it was taken under a softbox.
I woudn't mind seeing a little more of the countryside in the background... but like I said, the richness of the colors jumps out at me.
    Nice job.

    Chuck,

This was taken on my Canon Powershot Pro 1 with a cokin linear polariser. I Croped it just a little from the bottom and straightened the verticals. No lighting effects added, straight out of the camera. Did take photos with and without the polariser and the difference is staggering.

Roger, this is very good. The polarizer really brings out the blue sky and clouds and exagerates the lighting. This looks like something out of a science fiction movie.

Oh Gary, that sounds like a New Yorker talking!!
This looks like some thing you see daily driving around in Nebraska. (In fact, my dad used to sell and build grain bins like this.)

It's a pretty picture. Nice clouds.

The vivid colours, perspective and the sky are very pleasant to look at.
The dirt road sorta takes away from the photo though, I wish it was a one tone dark clay road.

Now Now girls put those handbags away ;) :-)

Thanks to all for the comments.

kerriann85 since your dad used to build these can you ask him if there is a reason why the doors are positioned facing each other please. It wasn't until I got the camera out that I noticed this.

Chuck what's a softbox? I couldn't believe the difference with the polariser or that this came out of the camera as is except for the crop. I did take severaol shots at different apperatures, with and without the polariser, and this was by far the best. I will endevour to put some of the other shots up in the next few days of the country side as I did take some.

Gary - Always glad to see your comments but the SF thing seems to pass me by, however we don't see many grain stores like this in the UK.

Leels - I would have like to get the things moved to give a better symmetry with the doors but not really practical. My camera bag already has chainsaw, superglue, spanners (see earlier posts) ;) The ground they stand on is fixed and the only way of doing anything like what you suggest is PS. My skills at this time aren't up to this but may give it a go in the next few days.

    Chuck,

Your request for different views -

The tree on the left of the silos is the left in the bottom picture, and the farm is across the road in front of the silos.

This is an amazing shot. The colors are so vivid and I love the contrast of these structures against the sky.

    Re: 4 big uns!!!

The simple polorizing filter made a huge difference in the initial shot. I don't doubt you when you said the difference was staggering. For me, the dirt road is a nice way to bring the road in with the bottom of the grain bins. Subtle, but works well. Nicely done all around.....

Thanks for all the comments. Still getting used to the polariser and how they work.

Army - not seen you on here for a while, missed your critiques.

Nina, the contrast is what made me stop for this photo it just looked ideal but the sky wasn't quite this blue in real life.

I have to agree with everyone, the colors are amazing, and i think what really adds to it is the different tones, colors and patterns of the metal sheets on the first two bins.

    Love this shot.
