Nikon 18-200 VR lens Warrenty

I am very impressed with this lens but was having a sever case of panic set in when I went to register the warranty and could not find a serial number. I called Beach Camera and they gave it to me and it was on the box but I could not find it on the lens. Beach gave me Nikon's number and they told me where to find it. The serial number is on the bottom of the lens just above the manual focus ring. It is stamped into the barrel and is very small and black. It is there but you have to look very, very close to see it. I don't know if anyone else has had this trouble but I hope this may save someone a few headaches. On the 50mm the number was white on black and very easy to read, Jeff

Some Nikon serial numbers are harder to read than others - true of both cameras and lenses. I think it was the one on my F100 that was almost invisible!

My lens that came with my D80 was the same. I did find it on my own but I looked hard. I figured it was somewhere stupid like that and printed really small.
