LOCATION PLEASE and what kind of nest boxes are they?
Looks like a fledgling bald eagle about 4 months old, it's name is Pat because it's ambiguous.
The problem is that it looks too small cmpared to the typical bird boxes I have seen .
OK, that's BC, Canada.
Given your answer to my previous post, I'm guessing it's a young bald eagle, too. It was a winding day that day. I don't think those boxes are for them. In fact, I don't know what those boxes are for.
I think I know now where the bald eagle nest is. At least I saw one last time...with two eagles sitting there high up on a tree far, far away.
Here's a few from today. The last shot the Woodpecker is on the remains of a Deer, I've never seen a woodpecker on a dead animal before. The Chickadees were also dining on the deer.
Or possibly the fat. A lot of hunters around here will hang the rib cage of their deer in a tree for the birds. It's a natural suet feeder, as long as it stays cold enough that it doesn't turn rancid. I'm sure tha neighbors appriciate it too.
"I thought that because fewer wolves meant more deer, that no wolves would mean hunters' paradise. But after seeing the green fire die, I sensed that neither the wolf nor the mountain agreed with such a view."

Sharp-shinned(I think), wood duck and a downy. The downy was eating the insects...yummy.
I was thinking the hawk was a Cooper. They were a good size bird and I see in my book that the Cooper is a bigger bird than the sharp-shin. I have another shot that might show it better I'll try to get on later. Never thought about insects or fat for that matter. There wasn't much left of the Deer.
Here are two more of the Hawk. There was a pair of these birds and they landed in the trees above me while I was watching some Ducks. They didn't stay there long and flew off in a direction that I had to many trees in the way to get an in flight photo. They were kind of noisy with a sound almost like an odd laugh.
Do these birds return to their nest sites. I watched these two young Eagles along with the one on the rebuilt nest and another adult bird today. The adult didn't seem to mind these other Eagles in the area but then again with all the gulls flying around maybe it didn't see them. I watched one of the adult birds chase off an Osprey once in the past.
Yeah, if you look close by the one branch coming up near the center you can see the Eagle looking up. From what I read the nest came down late last year in a storm and they rebuilt it in the same tree.
Ok here's two that I have absolutely no idea. They were found in the African Pavilion at the Toronto Zoo and there was no signage with a picture of these guys anywhere. None of my books have any African birds in them so I am totally at a loss.
Anyone??
