    Wild Turkeys

Saw a group of three this morning along my hike. It looked like one male and two female.

    Wow nice.
Wild Turkeys are not easy to get close to. Looks like you got pretty close.

So colorful! The 3rd one looks almost like it could be a lawn ornament. Nice touch getting the motion blur of its foot.

    Re: Wild Turkeys

    Thanks for the replies.
I have been trying to get a decent shot of wild turkeys for a while. Its very rare too see them around here this time if year. Lucky I heard them before they saw. I tucked myself behind some bushed hoping they would stroll my way. After a 45 minute wait they wobbled on by me. I shot these at 270mm. Closest I have ever been able to get to them. I was able to get off about 50 shots before they figured out where I was. After the first click of the camera they were in defense mode..but they didn't know which direction to run.
I had my dog with me as well, a 1 year old chocolate lab..the challange was to keep him quite for that long 45 min wait while we watched them

I would usually have dozens of pictures of turkeys and deer by now, but I have not seen any this winter. They would come to eat what the birds drop around the feeders. I wonder whats going on ?

Very nice series of shots. I like the color and the details in the third shot the best, Jeff

Really great shots especially in the conditions you explained, having two young labs I know how difficult must have been to keep him to stay with all the bird scandal at short range.

Beautiful shots, especially number 3. It must be something to be so close to these.
