    Veria Wetlands Green Herons

The Green Herons at the Viera Wetlands yesterday were very cooperative in posing for the photographers. It seems that everybody was getting shots of them. Some of my captures follow..........

Do you have any advice for finding wildlife at Veria? I'm thinking about going to check it out this week.

Just get out there. Wildlife is everywhere you look. Just go very slowly and you will find the wildlife, Birds, Snakes, Alligators, Deer, Raccoon, Otter, Wild Pigs, Bobcat, it's all there for the photographer who is quite, and moves very slowly.

No boardwalks at the Viera Wetlands. It's a sewage treatment plant that filters the effluent through a system of wet cells. A dike road goes around the 4 cells and a lake, and photographers take the photos from the dike road.

I LOVE these! We have green herons where I shoot, but they spook really easily. Once again... I need a BIGGER lens! lol

    Beautiful birds !

I have plans to visit Orlando in June for a conference, I think I'll stay 1 or 2 days after I finish the conference and bring my camera with me.

Any idea on why their head feathers go up and down? Never seen them "up" myself.

Ira, we'll be in FL for a little mouse worship at Disney.
And for some racing, at St Pete.

I'd love to meet up some time and get some bird photos too !
