Take the pebble from my hand

I guess having a title "Take the pebble from my Hand Grasshopper" will give away my age but I spotted this crossing the road and stopped and grabbed a shot, Jeff

This was taken with my Nikon D90 and my Nikon 70-300VR zoom taken at 300mm.

Re: Take the pebble from my hand

I was about 8 or 9 ft away from the grasshopper when I took this picture. I am very happy with the results I get from my Nikon 70-300mm VR. When I first bought it I had a non digital UV filter on the front and was not at all happy with my photos. Since I have replaced it with a digital UV filter I now have the detail that I was looking for, Jeff

Wow that grasshopper is really sharp, and colorful too! Nice job.

Nice shot! Those guys were everywhere in our area a few weeks back with a few still hanging out!
Pretty cool when you poke at them and they expose the red color under their wings!

Re: Take the pebble from my hand

Thanks everyone for taking a look. I was amazed at the detail that showed up when I posted this. Usually my pictures loose a lot when I down size and post them on the forums. I wish I knew what I did this time to keep the detail. Maybe one of these days I will figure out the right procedure where they all look sharp. Thanks again to everyone for taking a look and leaving your comments, Jeff
