    Take my picture

This big gator came up to me and posed showing me it's better side.

He probably wants you to clean that green gunk off of him! I've got some of the same type pictures here! I could wish I had a hose.....

Great gator photos, Grandpaw! Sometimes I get tired of bird photos and it's good to see some big lizards

How close were you to that gator when you took the picture, anyway? I'm guessing you were pretty close. That looks like it was shot with a wide-angle lens.

I was probably about six to seven feet away from the gator

What lens did you use? Did you crop the photo at all? It looks to me like you're about 4 feet away. Either way, it feels too close to me. Did it make you nervous?

I took this with my D600 using my Nikon 70-200VR at 70mm and no it is NOT cropped, you are seeing the whole frame. He was a very big gator!

Ok - consider me impressed. Walking backwards while a giant lizard is approaching me is not my idea of a good time

John, actually I am the one that stayed put and he backed up and slid back into the pond.

Dang son!!! So you're walking backward with your eye still in the viewfinder with the gater that close????? Good grief man, must've had a shortage of common sense that day, lol! Just kidding of course, but holy smokes that was just a tad too "candid", lol.
