I forgot about this one. The Yellow-throated warbler has been seen pretty often on Old Mine Rd. I went there a few weeks ago and didn't see it. I ran into a couple guys today while I was down by Watergate who said they saw it so I went for a look. It hangs out in some tall spruce trees near an old house close to the Depew area. I think this house was still in use up to a couple of years ago, I remember signs saying private residence near it.

    great horned owl

I know exactly where you are saying. heard it there on the world series of birding Very hard bird to see at a decent shooting angle. back side of watergate(pulloff just past the watergate enterance... chain cross the enterance to the field) usually has golden winged, bluewinged and hybrids down near the apple tree and least flycatchers are there too.

haven't birded oldmine in a few years, but know it like it was my back yard

I don't think you have the right spot for the YT Warbler. If you come in Old Mine off of Rt 80 it'll be a few miles before you get to watergate. You'll pass a building I think they call it the Calico School on the left soon after that there is a house and some buildings on the right then a big old white house on the left with a couple red barns. There is a dirt driveway that is on the left that goes behind the barns. The spruce trees are near the road in front of the house and there is another across the road back toward the woods. If you get to Depew you went to far.It is closed now but the entrance for it is about a 100 yards past the dirt driveway.
