    Spring 2008 Bird ID Thread.

    Well seeing that this is my first appearance in these forums since last Autumn and i was reading in the Winter ID Thread that you wanted someone to start a Spring thread here it is Also i have one that just may stump Master Paulnj ( Im hoping lol )

    These birds were either staying high up in the trees or in the thick bushes. This is a close up so I'm using it, a spring and fall bird for me.

    It was still too dark to get a decent shutter speed so this is all I got... Maybe a ring necked duck?

    can't ID that 100% from that shot(side profile would help immensely), but looks like an eastern pheobe to me. QUITE EARLY nomatter what it is!

    Hard to see him , but i think its a Wood Duck. This guy had the weirdest walk , almost like 2 steps forward and one back.

    Thats the one i was looking for ,left my book at work. Woodcock dont think its a common Snipe Paul , it has no neck and has real short legs

    while it's in woodcock habitat. It looks more snipe to me than woodcock......

    but after further review.... the angle hides the tan and it is indeed a WOODCOCK.

    Think this is a American Bittern, i have never seen one of these before .And boy do they ever make a loud noise something like a 10 pound bullfrog lol

    woodcock was my first thought when I saw it.
    though I've never seen one in the wild here - probably because of that camouflage !
