    Spring 07 Bird ID Thread

Since Paul requested a new ID thread, I thought I would start it off with a Bobolink.

    New Find

These are new for me and new to the ID threads as far as I can remember. Photographed Friday in northeastern Puerto Rico.

SWEET!!!! A young magnificent frigatebird! For those unfamiliar with the species, they are larger than an eagle in size, but much thinner and lighter in wieght.

Re: Spring 07 Bird ID Thread

I am going to guess at this one being either a femal or juvi Black Crowned night heron (according to the birder I ran into while shooting anyway) bit I honestly have no idea other than that it is a species of heron.

The bottom 2 are of the same bird.. just slightly different angles for a better chance at an ID. I think it is a female Hairy WP but I can't tell personally.

That's a young BC night-heron and adults look the same whether male or female

That is indeed a female hairy woodpecker.

I saw my first ever live EBB Wednesday Morning on the local golf course. Was neat.

Also saw Pappa Cardinal feeding his young one on my front lawn. That was pretty neat too.

I have a lot of Rose-breasted Grosbeaks this year. I also have an orange breasted Grosbeak which I have never seen before. Any info on this?

The same thing happens with scarlet tanagers(orange) on occation and I don't know why. Cool documentation as I have never seen one like that or heard of it.
