    Some BIF's...

Since I bought my 70-300mm, I've been practising more with birds-in-flight at a local park. Long way to go, though, in getting sharp stuff.

Harrier and tree swallow were taken a couple of days ago, the others this morning.

Welcome to the club You're definitely on the right track! But I guess you're also finding it pretty hard... and Loupey with his MF just makes it look so easy Ducks and gulls are definitely good to practice on, especially if you find somebody feeding them!

A swallow - what a lovely sight! Ours haven't returned yet from their winter holidays...

    Keep up the good work!

    Looks pretty good, Alex!

One thing: abort the attempt once the bird starts flying away from you.

If you can capture a tree swallow, that's half the battle as far as I'm concerned!
    Good job

    Thanks everyone.

    AE, thanks for the tip.

The swallows were the toughest, I still need lots of more practise for sure.

Very nice images Alex. While I am pretty sure the first is a female N harrier too, it sure does look goshawk like . Young goshawks in flight are tough. You say " harrier, no redshouldered, no harrier, no it's a goshawk"

    Thanks, Paul.

It does look a little goshawiksh, but I'm pretty sure the hawk is a female northern harrier. I saw it drop just above the ground and hover in place a few seconds.

It's a harrier, but I did a double take and even shook the dust of my sibley guide to confirm ID
