During the weekend I went to visit someone who lives in the woods, noticed a group of hummingbirds with plenty of activity around some weird looking flowers and took a chance shooting them.
I was behind a wall up to the height of my neck, allowing me to get somewhat close to the hummingbirds,
used a 70-300mm zoom @ 300mm and this are still significant crops
Shot on direct sunlight
spot focus
spot exposure
aperture priority F8 or F11
ISO 1000 to get high speed shots
Sometimes I would miss the focus and the lens will hunt all over the place, this lens is particularly noisy making the hummingbirds leave, but they came back every time after a few minutes.
EDIT: after uploading it here noticed I did a so so job about reducing noise in the background on the first image, this is cropped about 80%
My expectations were to have a blah day and it turned out great
Thanks for looking![]()
