    My first hummingbird

During the weekend I went to visit someone who lives in the woods, noticed a group of hummingbirds with plenty of activity around some weird looking flowers and took a chance shooting them.

I was behind a wall up to the height of my neck, allowing me to get somewhat close to the hummingbirds,
used a 70-300mm zoom @ 300mm and this are still significant crops

    Shot on direct sunlight
    spot focus
    spot exposure
    aperture priority F8 or F11
ISO 1000 to get high speed shots

Sometimes I would miss the focus and the lens will hunt all over the place, this lens is particularly noisy making the hummingbirds leave, but they came back every time after a few minutes.

EDIT: after uploading it here noticed I did a so so job about reducing noise in the background on the first image, this is cropped about 80%

My expectations were to have a blah day and it turned out great

    Thanks for looking

Beautiful Do you know what kind of hummingbird? The colors are gorgeous.

The flowers look like they're related to lion's tail.

I was thinking that too, but the white line above the eye is my issue.. sure looks it minus that white area.
