    Post hummingbird

    I took them in macro mode with flash.

    As I mentioned in the other thread, the cropped ones are better from a composition standpoint. But the level of crop is extreme so it reveals itself in image degradation and depth of field. In addition, the harshness of the flash is also more evident in the cropped images.

    Keep shooting and keep practicing. Even if you don't have the equipment you want right now, you can still work on honing your skills. Learn about composition, exposure, flash, and other technical stuff; but also learn about your subjects, mood, lighting, environment. Each and every one of these "other" factors will help to ensure that you capture the very best possible image with whatever you're shooting.
