    Ribbit-Ribbit

When I think of Colorado the last thing that comes to my mind is aquatic creatures.
You just don't see many of them here. While out hiking yesterday, looking for anything that would jump in front of my lens (pun intended haha)
    I spotted these little guys...

I am not sure what type of frog this is. The largest ones were about the size of your fist.
    Hope you enjoy them?

Equipment used: Sigma 500mm f7.2 with 36mm extension tube, Monopod, Minimal cropping.

Wonderful shots, Bob. They look like bullfrogs to me, but I'm not expert.

Great shots! In the fifth shot, going by the hand gesture, it looks like he didn't want his picture taken, Jeff

Looks like bullfrogs to me too.

My favorite is #4 - that's a neat "pad" it is resting on. I think if could see the entire reflection it would be icing on the cake.

Thanks for the ID Loupey and Cara.

Since I don't see these guys very often I took about 50 pictures.
Here's one with a reflection. Thanks for suggesting it.
The blue sky reflection does bother me a bit. I usually carry a polarizing filter and could kick myself for not having one this trip.
    No crop just resized.
When I apply the black border I always lose the EXIF data that was attached, not sure why.
EXIF: WB manual 5400, Color Control Neutral, Camera mode manual, 1/1000, f8, ISO800

All very nice shots but that last addition with the reflection is really super.

Thanks for posting the uncropped image.

I definitely like seeing the reflection and have no problems with the blue sky (actually prefer to see some color). If I could offer one tip it would be to try do composition in-camera as much as possible. In this shot I would have liked to see more water/reflection and less shore.

FWIW, I have CP filters but almost never use them. I definitely don't use them with wildlife because I don't carry them with me.

Yes, I see where you are coming. The pond with its reflections would be more interesting than the muddy bank. I will be sure keep that in mind the next time.

I hope to go back and try to catch them feeding. When I was there midday I only saw dragonflies in the air. I'm hoping evening will bring on a hatch of insects.

    thanks Loupey for the tips.

    nice series !

I always worry when I see a frog out in the sun , I feel they'll get hot very quickly

#4 has a very nice light which does not appear to be in the uncropped version

Hi Armando, I'm glad you liked the series.
You are right, the last picture I posted is not a cropped version of #4.
These frogs didn't move very much I could get within 4 feet before they would start showing some concern so I have many shots at different distances and framing.
