    Pair of woodpeckers

I was out shooting some Osprey this morning when I saw these two woodpeckers flying around they landed and stayed for about 1 to 1 1/2 seconds and flew off. It was a quick shot but I did manage to get a photo of them. This was taken with my D90 and 70-300VR lens.

I've never seen red-headeds here, although I'd sure like a shot. I do have some Downys and some Red-bellieds, though.

Good catch with the limited time you had. That limited time, if that's their habit, might be why I haven't seen them......

Cool shot. That tree sure has character. Redheads are pretty rare around here. I got one shot a couple years ago of one on a telephone pole and have only seen one since. They used to be real common when I was a young'un, but due to loss of habitat, they're a rare breed in these parts.

wfooshee, I don't think moving that quick is normal. I believe it was a matter of one chasing the other.
