Can you tell us what the ducks are? They don't look like anything I am liable to see up here in the Great White North. Thanks.

The monarch is great, how would you feel about cropping out the vegetation in the left third of the image and just leaving the butterfly on the one flower by itself. IMHO, the vegetation on the left draws the viewers eye, and thus his attention, away from the buttefly - just a thought.

    Cheers.

they look like wood ducks. we have them in New England. many ponds have nesting boxes for them although I'm never patient enough to wait around in the bug infested shore to photograph them. ; ) I like how they're communing with a turtle. And the sunny butterfly picture is a breath of fresh air.

They are indeed wood ducks along with a red-eared slider turtle. Nice shot. I've only been able to get picks of wood ducks once here in Utah

Thanks iguanamon and danpics for the IDs. We supposedly get them here in the Western Prairies, but I have yet to see any and I haunt a lot of the places they are liable to be. I will definitely pay more attention in the spring this year.
