    The Green Prairie

I spent the best part of two days in Wyoming trying to shoot antelope photos with my new lense.

Boy is it ever green and there's a lot of water, so the antleope are sure spread out.

Here is a sampling of phot that I shot with my new Zukio 90-250.

    Re: The Green Prairie

Well its heavy, big and I was surprised how close the critters had to be in able to take a decent photo. For the cost I question my purchase. Perhaps after I have used it more I will feel different. It does take a nice photo if I do the right things, but some I thought would be better than they turned out. For the cost I think 50-200 is a much better buy and still produces a great image.

I know there a quite a few birders visit this forum so maybe some of you can tell me the name of the birds in the following photos.

Thanks and have a good one. BB

    Re: The Green Prairie

For the extra 50mm I'm not sure I'd buy it, having the 50-200 already. To be honest I use those focal lengths more with the extension tube for macros than for real telephoto work. Just too short. The 300/2.8 is an interesting lens though, maybe if I strike the lotto. I'd love a 400/5.6 in the mid-grade line...

Can't beat the scenery though. Looks like a great place for a photo hike.

Thanks to all whom have contributed to this thread and a special thanks for the bird ID. But does anyone know what type of sparrows I photographed?

One of the main reasons I went up so early, was the hope of getting some fawn photos, while they were still pretty young. But the antelope are spread out because of the abundance of food and water, that I did not get many fawn photos. I do intend to go back in a week or two and see if I can't add to my antelope photos.

I do plan to spend a week or two this fall during the rut photographing that ritual and hopefully will be able to post some pretty neat stuff. They fight, and really tear up the ground and they have many rutting jesters that I hope to capture.
