    Great Egret encounter

So I'm walking the trail, minding my own business and looking for stuff to shoot, when this Great Egret comes in on final from out over the bay and lands not 15 feet from me! So of course I had to get the close-up!!!

I've been this close to Great Blue Herons, but Great Egrets usually spook a lot sooner, and him coming to me is just unheard of! The bottom picture show 3.6 meters as the subject distance! He did fly off as I tried to sneak just that little bit closer, tiny steps with the camera still at my eye.

Beautiful images, especially the close up! Wow! The compositions on both images are very well done....and I love the bokeh on this 2nd image

It's a great feeling to get a surprise like this - when the subjects just show up at the right time and the right place!
