Daff's

I took this a few weeks ago on our visit to the Norfolk Botanical Gardens but I hadn't posted it. Thought I'd go ahead and see what you guys thought about it.

Beautiful shot. A lot more potential there too. If I may suggest some selective cropping and use of layers to enhance color and impact.

My opinion? It's a bit confusing/disjointed. I like the shadows on the walkway but the walkway itself is too busy/complicated. And the stick is too distracting.

When composing, only include what is important. Discard all else.

I Love Daffs Amber, simple, but one of my favourites.
I would of cropped the picture so the image stands forward more, discarding the stick, but i quite like the cobbled background effect, just enough DOF to blur it but leaving enough detail for the eye, and where the Daffs are siuated in the left corner of the frame makes great composition.

IMO much better Amber, but i do like to crop my images if there is a lot of, what i call "waste space" ie lots of dull sky, or if a little subject ie. small bird with loads of distracting or plain background takes over from the main subject, or unless you use a large aperture to blur all background.

Definitely better. The eye goes to the focal point of the composition much quicker in this cropped version.
