    Cozy Den

Haven't shot much at all since the fall bird migration ended - didn't even shoot much then. Now waiting for the harriers, merlins, and short-eared owls to arrive.

Found this family of racoons this weekend in brisk -5°C weather. Snows and -20°C temps expected later this week. Winter sucks. But it could be a lot worse like what some of you more northerly people have to endure.

Anyway, hope to get back shooting again.

Very nice picture! That must be on very large hole to accommodate a family of raccoons, Jeff

    Good fine.
After seeing your coon/tree photos from last year you would not believe how many tree holes I have explored. I'm going to get a shot like this one day. Thank you for the idea and inspiration.

Very large indeed. Through my viewfinder, I could see the mom (or dad) at the rear of the den sometimes going up and sometimes going down. Apparently a multi-level den.

LOL - I give every hole an extra moment longer to look for signs of life while hiking. You have a great memory and I thank you for the kind reference.
