    coyote and weasel dancing

So about 5 minutes and a mile down the road from the elk shots seen here:
    Yellowstone, hayden valley Elk

i drove upon this scene, right in front of a pull off with a few people in, including the pro photographer that i work with. they were all to interested in the wolves chasing off a grizz sow and cub about a mile away, not getting any photos of them. not sure if i over sharpened them, but i shot them in raw so i'll probably try to rework them again.

this was the second frame i shot in the sequence. i didn't realize it was playing with a weasel until i got home, just knew it was a small mammal.

    \

it then went down the hill pounced on something else and then moved in to the shadow of the hill i was standing on.

it walked along this stream for a bit....

it then marked its territory and moved off out of sight.

Great documentary of natural animal behavior!

Reminds me of a documentary I saw about killer whales and how they will occasionally kill a seal to simply play with it by using their flukes to catapult the seals in the air.

armando - im pretty sure it was just playing with it. it didn't eat it, at least much of it, and after a few minutes grew tired and tried to pounce on something else.
