    Costa Rica

Just back from a week at Drake Bay in Costa Rica. On the last day I was at the beach by myself and 6 Scarlet Macaws flew in and started feeding in the tree over my head.
[not sure what happened here - all that white space on the right is not in the file I uploaded.]

That must have been so cool. I can only imagine what it would be like to see these guys flying around outside of a cage.

It was pretty incredible. I shot 100+ frames, many better exposed etc. but nothing beat that lucky shot of the landing. Here's a Capuchin monkey on the tree by the lodge.

    Re: Costa Rica

Thanks! Here's a squirrel monkey, a pootoo (owl relative) and a caiman. The squirrel monkey is especially noisy from enlargement, but most of my images from the trip are a bit noisy because I was largely shooting in the shade with at f/5.6 or slower so I just left the camera (D90) at ISO 3200. Going to be offline for a couple of days but will post more when I get back if there's interest.

    Re: Costa Rica

Not really huge, you're just seeing the bottom 3 feet .
The other one was really tall; appears to be two trees grown together 20ft above ground level. Above at 20mm focal length, here it is at 75mm. Can't decide which one I like better.

    Re: Costa Rica

Absolutely. Shortly before that a group of spider monkeys came through the treetops high above, afraid this is the best I could do ...

Indeed! Just wish I had something decent of the howler monkeys (black faces made them especially tough).
