    Cardinal & hermit thrush

These were taken today when the temp was +3 Fahrenheit (about –15 Celsius), I couldn’t feel my fingers. The only p/p done was a slight crop, and a very slight levels & contrast adjustment.

I found another hermit thrush (thanks again to Paulnj for the ID), but not until it started snowing. This dirty glass painted look is really starting to get to me, it only happens when it snows (every day).

Thank you Knight and Payn817, all the birds were pretty plumped up today... it was cold! I'm not sure what temp was with the wind-chill... just nasty cold!

    Re: Cardinal & hermit thrush

Hey Paulnj, what else should I be looking out for??? What other birds should be returning soon? I'm really looking forward to seeing some new birds.

Here is a link to hear what a hermit thrush sounds like if anyone is interested... very nice sounding bird.

    LOL! Plump indeed

Love the 3rd cardinal shot. I like the falling snow in the thrush images. It was cold here yesterday as well. First we wanted snow, now we want spring - at least it's seasonal

Who wanted snow? I want spring forever! I agree Copy, can't wait to get back into macro mode. I did see a (one) dragonfly today.

I agree with Payne817, lets have spring forever!

Those are nice images, birds are so cute when they're plump and fluffed up like that. I don't see hermit thrushes often in my area but i love hearing thrushes sing, especially wood thrushes.

I always thought that the bare trees in the winter were terribly ugly. Now, I like them as I can get unobstructed (more or less) shots of birds in them.

Once the leaves come, we'll need to switch tactics

YOU ARE ADDICTED!!! Good for us

And Paulnj, that is one cool little bird! I was reading about the winter wren in my Audubon guide last night. It can sing halftones and overtones at the same time... that's pretty remarkable!

Nice shots, those birds are sure fluffed up for the cold. You're a braver man than I, I'm waiting impatiently for spring. My favourite trails are thigh deep in snow and I'm too lazy to fight it.

Thank you Scott, I've been wondering about you not being around... I hope to see some of your images when the weather improves.
