    Assortment of birds

Until today, I had no idea female cardinals would fight with each other… I saw two really going at it.

I tried to get a good shot of this robin for Bev, but my model wouldn’t cooperate.

I didn’t see the out of focus branch when I took this image… I really wish it wasn’t there.

    Straight from my camera

Just got lucky with this one…

    Thank you for looking.

nice assortment. The in flight shots are terrific, and the rate at which you are improving amazes me.

Around here robins always stay on the ground

    Re: Assortment of birds

Thank you Payn for the nice complament, I really appreciate it. If there wasn't any snow, I'm sure the robins would be on the ground here too.

And thank you Knight. I get a lot of cardinals in my backyard, but I think I found the cardinal motherland this week. The berries in the images must be attracting them from quite a distance. I’m not sure if these are of the same female, there were a lot of them flying around…

This one didn’t come out as well as I had hoped, I kept it because of the plumpness factor.

And… there was one female there that was almost completely gray, I wish I could have gotten an image of her.

edit- a couple of more fluff balls from today. The waxwings are very hard to get close too (huge crop), they take off just from the sound of the shutter.

Great images. I really like the lighting in the first cardinal of the first post. And excellent branch placement and composition on the one above the waxwing.
