I would venture as far as saying that the area I live in (Southwest Florida), is probably one of the best birding places in the world. That said, however, I am an extremely active photographer, and spend a LOT of time shooting. I travel all over an area that covers the Southwest region of the state. At the end of the day, you just have to put yourself in positions to make shots. I'll spend countless hours standing in a swamp somewhere looking for activity. Many of my best shots came from my back yard (or within close proximity to my home), Others came from a hundred miles away. You just never know. Most of my favorite shooting areas are 30 minutes to an hour from my home.Originally Posted by cgarrard

Even if my "keeper" percentage were less than10 percent, that's still a lot of good shots. I think the key is to blast away. Practice! Its digital! Study other photographers, and open yourself up to honest critique.
