through glass?

I wanted to know how you take pictures though glass? Like at an aquarium & when you are on like the 18 floor of a building and want to take a picture of the view.

When at all possible i just put the lens straight on the glass.

Tip for using flash through glass: shoot at a 45 degree angle to the glass.

Turn out the room lights and shut all the blinds to make the room as dark as possible. Manual focus can simplify things too. Shooting through glass at an angle can be problematic because the distance that the light travels through glass is different in different parts of the shot - since the glass is colored and also blocks some of the light you get some inconsistencies.
