Software Filters/Polarizers

Hi
I am new to digital photography. I have taken some nice photographs using my 35mm camera with filters and polarizers. Now the digital camera I use Sony V1 doesnot have facility to attach polarizer or filter.

Can any one tell me that is there any way I can edit a photograph to give the effect the I have with a polarizer or filter? I use Corel Photopaint.

I am completely new to photography but over the last few days of research on the Net I did notice a filter holder that fits on the camera's tripod threaded hole.
