    Lens question?

    Canon EF-S 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS or Sigma 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM
    what do you recommend?

    Just by default I recommend sticking with matching lens rather then the 3rd party glass. I'm not saying that they're bad, I'm sure there's a lot of good ones out there, but that's my 2 cents.
    mostly Nikon gear

    I'd go with canon just for the extra stop on the long end.

    Nearly all Canon dSLRs have an AF limit at f/5.6 - meaning lenses any slower won't autofocus.

    So I suppose the Sigma lens drops AF when zoomed out to 200mm? That alone would be a deal-breaker for most people.

    The 50-500mm was 6.3 zoomed out and autofocus functioned at 500mm just fine.

    I suppose you're right. I haven't heard a bunch of people complaining about the AF dropping out on the 50-500 or 150-500 Sigmas.

    To the OP, how close are they in price? Check the resale prices too.

    Thank you for all your information, ya, I think I am going to go with the Canon lens.
