    Help finding accessories

Hello everyone. Thanks in advance for any help I can get (I guess I need a lot!).

I just got a Digital Rebel Xt last month, and I love it. I might love it a bit too much, as I keep running the battery down. I know I don't want to pay 70 dollars for another battery from Canon, but I'm a little wary of some of the cheaper batteries I've found online. Does anyone have any suggestions for this?

With batteries, it seems like you get what you pay for. With my Nikon Coolpix, the Nikon battery has held up the best and held a charge the longest. A close second is the off-brand I bought at B&H that was about 30% less expensive. The real cheapies I bought on ebay are close to worthless. Strangely enough, looking at the MAH rating (milliamp hour, more = higher capacity), the Nikon is the lowest, B&H off-brand is less but close and the ebay batteries are by far the highest - so you can't always trust that number.

Try one of the reputable places like B&H or Adorama for an aftermarket battery, but I'd bet the Canon replacement would be the best. It seems expensive only until you miss a shot because your batteries are done...

Think how much money you will have spent when you add the price of the generic on top of the price of the cannon battery you'll probably end up buying in the end, Jeff

If you do decide to purchase an non-Canon battery just remember to purchase a battery from a reputable store that will back up your purchase.
