    film processing

we have a couple of questions:

we were wondering how different fuji processing is from kodak proccessing and if it matters if you have fuji or kodak film. wal-mart does fuji processing and target does kodak. is it okay to take fugi film to target or better to take it to wal-mart?

also, we were told that fuji film has more brilliant greens and blues while kodak has better reds and yellows. is this true?

    thanks!

I assume you're talking about colour negative processing. Nowadays it's a standard process usually referred to as C41. Theoretically Kodak processing and Fuji processing should give the same result. In practice there are differences between labs do to:

    - how fresh their chemicals are (and generally to what extent the lab respects the makers instructions)
    - the paper used (there are several different types even from one maker)
    - the skill of the printing machine operator (or lack of it/lack of operator)

    Re: film processing

C41 is a standard process for color negatives so Kodak film can be processed on Fuji equipment and vice-versa. Since different films have a different look to them, Fuji might be better at printing Fuji negs (and Kodak with Kodak) but this would be where there would be any difference.

This difference is really insignificant compared to finding consistent results from a lab. Some one-hour places do a pretty good job and some pro labs are terrible. My advice would be to find a good lab, then a film that's giving you the results you want and then stick with it.
