dont know what to call this problem, pls help

i took this picture a fewnights ago with my new rebel xt the problem is the weird contour line like thing are in the image when i open it. the only time i dont see them is if i open them in adobe. does any one know what this is im not sure if the rings will show in the forum or not.

I guess I'm not sure what I'm looking at. Can you draw an arrow on the image to the problem?

Sounds like the rings are due to not enough colours on your monitor to display the subtle shades of grey properly.
What software are you using, when you're not opening it with Adobe?
Does it look anything like what I've done to your photo?
