    Digital question..

Okay, I just purchased a new digital camera... )
and I am planning to enter a local photo contest which has a digital category. From what I have seen of photos in a digital category it is the abstract compositions. Is this a true statement? If I shoot a shot with my digital category am I "legal" to enter it in the Black and white category?

    thanks

    Re: Digital question..

Depends on the contest rules. Standard issue rules are usually that if it can be done in a darkroom, it's not considered digital manipulation. This would be global changes to contrast, lightness and color correction. It probably would include spotting out dust, burning and dodging, and sharpening (unsharp mask is a terminology carried over from printing - can't tell you much about the analog version personally though).

I guess this is where I draw the line, and it seems to be about where other people draw the line. Check the official rules to be sure though. You're probably OK with a digital capture that's converted to B&W and entered in the B&W category though. Good luck!

If all else fails, I would be happy to trade that S3 for one of my film cameras - just so you don't have to worry about it!

    Re: Digital question..

    Thanks
That is kind of what I thought. I do the simple fixes and stuff in PS but I do not add a 3rd eye or overlay mult pictures. I like that but it is digital art.
The contest is actually presented by Fujifilm..

As far as a trade...uuhhh...sorry! LOL

I let 2 film cameras go (mamiya m645 and a pentax zx7) to raise a total of 1\5th the cost of this beast, I am keeping my f100 for all the obvious reasons.

    thanks
