Mixed up some chemistry today, and decided to develop some film. Earlier this summer I bought a box of antique cameras that I hope to have in a display case some day. While going thru them, I found an exposed roll of 620 Kodak Verichrome Pan in one of the cameras. Along with the Verichrome Pan was an unopened box of Kodacolor-X. The expiration date on the Kodacolor was Sep 1971. I was pretty excited to see what, if anything was on this old roll. Could it be a shot of the guy on the grassy knowl, or maybe someone having a family picnic?
What a pain in the a$$. It took me well over an hour to get that damn film on the reel. After being wrapped around that little spool for the last 40 years, I guess it didn't want to straighten out very well. I didn't even get it all to go on the reel.. Once I got it started, it was going on fine, then something happened and it wouldn't go on anymore. I kinda forced in on the best I could and said screw it. I was sick of messing with it long before I got this far. I threw it in the tank, and developed it using D-76.
When I finally took it out of the tank, I was a little surprised that I actually had some images on the film. There are only 3 or 4 frames that have anything recognizable on them, but you can tell what they are. A shot of an old TV, and some people sitting on a couch. I guess I ruined the grassy knowl photos.Oh well, it was fun, but a pain in the butt. I hope the newer film goes on the reels easier.
I will try to get the film scanned at work this week.
