    Developing and scanning film

Where do you develop and scan your medium format film? I got a quote from my local camera store and just want to make sure that I know my options...

How much does it usually cost to develop film for medium format? Where is the best place to develop the film? Is there an online based company with competitive prices?

Do you scan your images yourself?

    Thanks!

I scan them myself on an Epson V500. It is a slow process but cheaper than sending them out. Pretty soon I'll have my darkroom set up so will only have to scan the color film.

Since I'm in Canada I can't really help with where to develop (but for any Canadian's who happen to read this, I do suggest Henry's).

As for scanning, I do the scanning myself using a Epson V500.

35mm - 48-bit colour, 3200DPI, Grain Reduction and Unsharp Mask checked
Medium - 48-bit colour, 2400DPI, Grain Reduction an Unsharp Mask checked
Polaroids (both Type 100 Pack and Integral Types) - 48-bit colour, 1200DPI, Grain Reduction and Unsharp Mask checked.

I do all my B&W in house but I take E6 to Wal-mart and send it off. I think I use to pay $5.50 for developing only(no prints) and then I have a Epson V500 and I scan the negs myself. I give up E6 because my E3 was so close to the same results I saw no point anymore. Walgreens may still do it?

This place does a good job developing if you want to mail it out,

    www.chromedigital.com

but I think you could find good places in Florida too, with all the photographers I hear it has. Miami's a big city and should have development labs.

I scan mine with my Coolscan 9000.

Where I live (Bangkok) there are loads of shops that develop films at a very cheap price.

    Hi Nickolas,

Where are you located? If you're in North American there are lots of good mail in labs. Old School Photolab, The Darkroom are both ones that I use with great results!
