    VR. What is it?

I've always loved photography but it's only recently that I've begun to take a serious interest in it. I've finally been able to get myself a nice camera, a Nikon D60, and part of the reason why I got it was this Vibration Reduction thing I'd read such great things about. And now I just can't figure out..what is it?? What does it actually do? I had this idea that when I turned the VR on my pictures would be totally clear and not blurry at all, or at least less blurry (i mean, of course, pictures that would normally be blurry because of low light, etc.). But it makes no difference! I take one picture with it switched off and another exactly the same with it switched on and I see absolutely no difference. Is there something wrong with my camera? Or am I just not getting what this VR thing is really all about? Haha can someone who knows a little more about this please explain it to me?? :-/

    What lens are you using?
The vr is best for camea movement when taking the pic, which only shows up in longer shutter speeds unless you have an overly ambitious finger.
Maybe the pics are the same because you had a fast enough shutter that the vr wasn't necessary.

Whatever the slowest shutter speed you would normally be able to hand hold without seeing a blur, with the VR turned on it should allow you to go about three speeds slower than that and get the same picture, Jeff

VR Vibration Reduction, IS Image Stabilization, OS Optical Stabilizer
They all mean the same thing from a lens manufacturer.
