    Nikon 3000 W/2 lenses vs 3100 vs Canon T1I

Looking for some opinions on the best option as the wife's Christmas present. I picked up a Nikon D3000 w/ 18-55vr and 55-200vr lense, bag, tripod, and 8g memory on black friday. I know I can return it and get a D3100 or T1I with a18-55 lense only for the same price and understand they are both better cameras. The problem is I will not be able to add the extra lense with either of those for quite some time. The camera will be used for sports, vacation, and because the wife got new picture frames. She loves picture taking and is pretty good. I know the bundle I picked up was a great price and was looking for opinions on more lenses or more camera as the best route to go. :mad2:

How important is video to you and your wife? I think that may be the most important question.

We have a video camera and a 1 year old Olympus point and shoot already with video capabilities. I would say that is not important. We rarely shoot video.

In that case I'd definitely go back one generation with the camera. The D3100 is more about the video, although I'm sure the image quality has also been improved. However, I think the D3000 or the T1i would both serve you well. The T1i is a step about the D3100 and D3000 in terms of functionality but I either Nikon will supply you with all the basics. I would recommend skipping the packages and buying either the Nikon or Canon 18-200mm image stabilized zoom lens. I think it's a much better lens than even that combo kit you listed and it's only one lens to cover the whole range, which is really nice.
