Limitations of Digital Rebel?

I currently own the film based Rebel 2000 along with a couple lenses and a 420ex flash.

I've been debating about spending a grand on the new digital Rebel, but have heard there are limitations as far as metering and exposure.

What exactly are these limitations?
Are they limitations I already have with my film based rebel?

I've made the exact same jump as you. I too went from a Rebel 2000 to the 300D. The only limitation I really miss, is the mirror lockup feature of the 10D which helps eliminate camera shake when I'm shooting macro, but other than that it's an incredible value.

As far as other limitations, you can't set the white balance based on color temperature, only a few default options .. however you CAN use the custom white balance feature and shoot a white cloth or piece of paper to match balance exactly.

On the 10D, you can select the metering mode (evaluative, partial, center-weighted) you'd like to use regardless of the shooting mode (P, AV, TV, M, Auto) but on the Rebel the metering mode is decided by the shooting mode.
