Flash Card - Does it Matter?

When I went to Epperson Photo tonight, they did not have a Delkin or Lexar flash card for my D70. As a result, I bought a CompactFlash 256mb card. Did I make a mistake? Are the cards really all that different (except for the price)? Does the old adage "You get what you pay for" once again apply in this case? Anyone had any experience with this brand?

They're all CompactFlash, it's the proper name of the CF format.
I think the ones I have that say CompactFlash on them very priminently are made by SanDisk.

They really aren't too different, unlike film they don't affect the image colour, or quality.

The big differnence you'll find is I think in speed.
The more you pay, the faster it'll read and write - which matters ...
IF your camera is fast enough to make the card work at its fastest
IF the card supports WA standard and your camera does too
IF you're working at highest resolution or RAW mode
IF taking pictures quickly matters (e.g. for sport)
THEN it's worth paying the extra.

I just bought a lexar 80x 1 GB card with WA (write acceleration). I used to have a sandisk 256 mb type I card. The lexar is so much faster in my D70! Lexar also has a rebate going right now for the 80x cards. Check out B&H

Try tigerdirect.com. I just bought the 1 gig lexar 80X WA for $109 with a $30 rebate bringing it to $79.
