    Using External Flash

I have a Kodak DX6490 and a Promaster 5550DX Flash. I looking for a guide or information on how to use this flash with this camera to get the best results. Neither flash or camera manufacture have good information on using it. Thanks in advance.

Hey extrememc attempted to answere your question trog, but it seems that he hit the "report this post" tab by accident. Here is what he had to say:

This is the reason that the user gave:
"Yes, I have it attach using a bracket and it connects by way of a plug on the side of my camera that tells it when to fire. My thing is how to set the flash to properly work with the camera using the setting that are on the camera and flash."

    Re: Using External Flash

    thanks almo...

all thats happening then is the camera simply fires the flash.. i dont think there is any other kind of communication between the two.. u would have to set the flash manually to whatever F-number u have your camera set at.. the flash should auto sense subject distance and fire accordingly..

if u want to stretch the flash distance a little set it at full power and use the largest lense opening your camera has.. u can also up the ISO setting on your camera if needed..

basically u have to set your camera and flash manually.. nothing will work very well on auto..
