    Sending Viewing Pictures

I send (and view) a lot of pictures. I generally send files that are about 200-300kb, so not too big. Generally, my recipients view them fine.

However, there are a couple of people that get the pictures and they are like, 10 times the size of the screen.(they only can see a small part of the picture on their screen, as the picture is much larger than the screen) I know this must be some sort of "switch" on their part, but I cannot figure out what that is. (it is in their email system that this must be)

Any hints on where to look, what to switch, so the pictures are "scaled" to the screen?

    Thanks for any hints.

Resize your picture to about 600x400 and this should solve your problem, Jeff

Note... After you resize try sending it to yourself before sending it to someone else and you can see how it effects the picture. You may want to try different combinations to get exactly the size picture you want but 600x400 should do the trick.

    Re: Sending Viewing Pictures

There are two "sizes" involved with digital photos. One is the file size - or the amount of data that makes up the image. The other is the physical size, or resolution, of the photo. The file size, which you referred to, will have no effect on how big the image looks to the person you e-mail it to. Grandpaw's suggestion about resizing, is very good. If you resize the image to 600 pixels wide then it won't be too big for people to see, and the file size will be smaller.

To answer your question about why some people can see the complete photo and some people can't - that would be a software issue on their computer. I don't think any of us can really answer the question for you because there are too many variables. How they see the image will depend on what program they use to view it, what the settings in that program are, what version of the program, etc. Most people probably open the images into Internet Explorer. Depending on their Explorer settings and what version they have, the images may open up at full size, or resized to fit the window. Old versions of IE always showed image files at full resolution. The new default is to resize them to fit the screen. The best thing for you to do is, as Grandpaw suggested, resize the images so that they'll fit anyone's screen. That way you bypass the problem completely, as well as sending smaller files.

    Hope that helps!
