    SD card issue...Please Help!

I have a sandisk ultra II 2gb sd card. I can download photos directly from my camera to my pc but when I try to put the card in my printer it will not auto recognize it and when I open that port thru "my computer" it tells me that the card needs to be formatted. I have used this printer with my compact flash with no issues. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

    Camera: Canon A590IS
    Printer: Epson R320
Card: Sandisk Ultra II SD 2gb :mad2:

They usually recommend formatting the card with the camera. My XTi put a couple of extra folders on the card. Don't know if this will help, but give it a try. Remember that formatting erases everything off the card. - TF

Well I tried that and all it did was just erase the files that were on the card. I'm just wondering if the age of my printer has something to do with it. It might not support a 2gb card. It handles my old 256mb card with no problem. I have emailed Epson to see if that is it. I'll post their comments when I get them.

I know this is not the fastest card but some of the older readers won't read the faster cards. Don't know if this has anything to do with it or not, Jeff

Perhaps your printer driver(s) are not up to date to handle the new card size. Look for a more current driver and try again

Does the A590is format the cards using the FAT32 file system? That can cause problems with older devices that only use FAT. If you reformat it, do it from the computer, and format it as FAT and see if the printer will recognize it then.
